Reading List

I'm going to post the books I've been reading for a couple reasons: a) I don't want anyone to pay to send me something I've already read, b) To give you conversation fodder for emails if you've already read them, c) I want to show off how much I'm reading, because I've already read more than I did in four years of college.

I'll keep this entry updated, so if you're about to send something, check this first.

Hells Angels, by Hunter S. Thompson
The World is Flat, by Thomas Freidman
Paris in Mind, ed. Jennifer Lee
Confessions of an Economic Hitman, by John Perkins
Bastard Out Of Carolina, by Dorothy Allison
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, by Hunter S. Thompson
Another Roadside Attraction, by Tom Robbins
Jazz, by Toni Morrisson
Dubliners, by James Joyce (in the middle of)
The Last King of Scotland, by Giles Foden
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis
Life of Pi, by Yann Martel
Gulliver's Travels, by Jonathan Swift (in the middle of)
On the Road, by Jack Karouac
Guns, Germs, and Steel, by Jared Diamond
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, by Jonathan Safran Foer
A Farewell to Arms, by Ernest Hemingway
Beloved, by Toni Morisson
A Brief History of Time, by Stephen Hawking
A Moveable Feast, by Ernest Hemingway
A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens

I'm not on som H.S.T. fix, I just ran out of books in the village and the guy near me had it. Also, note, when I arrived in my village two and a half weeks ago, I was still reading the world is flat. For those of you who know my reading habbits, five books in three weeks hasn't happened since my books had pictures on every page.

Look for the new entry on Weds or so.

Love Boubs

Hey Andy, I told you I would write eventually. Sorry it has taken me a week to get my act together since we talked on "turkey day" as Mac calls it! I am glad to hear you had a great Thanksgiving! We sure missed you! Just wasn't the same with out all our family there! What an amazing experience it sounds like you are having!

Mac and I look at a map in one of his books and point out Senegal, Africa almost weekly! He says, "that's where my cousin Andy is"!

We are having our first real snow storm today! Mac is waiting so patiently to go play in it, however I will not be joining him! I am sick with the sinus, head cold stuff and have no shoes that fit my feet right now as they are so puffy!

Can't wait for you to come home, even though I know it is a long time away, we think about you everyday! Baby "Charlie" will be waiting to meet his cousin Andy! Although, by that time, he'll probably be about 2. I'm due on January 20, but really hoping to go early, so we'll keep you posted on that! We'll send you pictures in the mail!

I was reading your blog to a friend at work and she asked if you would mind if maybe her sons would write to you. She was so impressed with your writing skills. Her youngest son wants to be a writter. So, if you get some random kids named either Will or Andrew write to you, I work with their mom.

I best stop now, but wanted you to know that we miss you and are so proud of you!

ahhh Andy. Your letter for Grandma brought tears and laughter for everyone. Good job! I had many comments from friends that you should be a writer. I assured them that you already are. We delivered twin lambs on Wednesday nite from Daisy. Seems like she figured that grandma needed lambs in heaven since we lost both of them. Susie says 10 year old ewes are not spose to be having babies. Kenny and I pulled them out while Michelle cheered and your dad held the dry towels. It just took too long I guess. They were all wrapped up with each other and neither could get out. Susie was on the speaker phone telling us what to do. it's sad.
Winter is really upon us and skiing has been good. Dan took a bad fall today at Buck so he's very sore, but ok.
I've finished the Christmas chex mix and will mail it off tomorrow with jello for you to do the christmas thing. won't make it by Dec 25 unfortunately. sorry that we lost track of time while tending Grandma. Hopefully it will still taste good.
Take care my dear.
luv, alg
